Phlox

Summer favourite full of colour and fragrance
Phlox is a classic, richly flowering perennial that fills the garden with colour, fragrance and volume in the summer. With varieties for both borders and rockeries, Phlox has a wide range of applications - from compact, early flowering varieties to tall, stately plants that flower until September. The flowers attract butterflies, bees and other pollinators, which also makes the plant ecologically valuable. Phlox is known for its long flowering period, pleasant fragrance and sturdy stems, which also make it suitable as a cut flower. A favourite with garden lovers, landscape designers and growers.
Phlox – summer blooms with fragrance and natural appeal
Phlox is a perennial plant that has been beloved in European gardens for generations. The name literally means ‘flame’ – a reference to the vibrant, fiery colours in which this plant blooms. There are two main groups:
Phlox paniculata – tall border plants, flowering July–September
Phlox subulata – low-growing, ground-covering species, flowering April–May
The Phlox paniculata is the best known and is used for borders, cutting gardens and cut flowers. It blooms in colours such as pink, white, red, purple, lilac and even bicoloured. The flowers form dense, fragrant clusters that remain attractive until late summer. Phlox loves sun, nutritious soil and sufficient moisture, but is otherwise low-maintenance and completely winter-hardy.
