Convallaria

Fragrant simplicity for shady spots
Convallaria majalis, also known as lily of the valley or lily of the valley, is a classic spring flower with graceful, bell-shaped flowers and an intensely sweet scent. This perennial is particularly suitable for shady gardens, woodland gardens and underplanting. It forms dense carpets of fresh green leaves and blooms profusely in May. Convallaria is very hardy, naturalises easily and continues to flower reliably for years. The flowers are popular in bridal work and cut flower use, while the plant itself requires virtually no maintenance.
Convallaria majalis – timeless beauty for woodland edges and borders
Convallaria majalis is a low, rhizoma-forming perennial with broad leaves and white, fragrant flowers on arching stems. It is ideal for natural and informal gardens and comes into its own in partial shade or shade, for example under trees or shrubs.
It usually flowers in May, hence the Dutch name ‘meiklokje’. After flowering, red berries form (poisonous), while the foliage remains decorative until summer. Convallaria propagates via underground rhizomes, which makes it suitable for naturalizing and ground cover.
