Zantedeschia, commonly known as Calla, originates from South Africa and is cultivated worldwide as an ornamental plant. The inflorescence – an elegant, domed calyx around a central spike – is an absolute eye-catcher in bouquets and on patios. Flowering usually takes place from June to August, depending on planting time and climate.

Calla grows from a tuber and requires a well-drained, slightly moist soil. They are not winter hardy, but provide impressive flowering in the right season. The plant does well in pots, borders or as a cut flower in commercial cultivation. In warm regions, outdoor planting is also possible.
