Begonia

Begonia Picotee white-red – tuberous Begonia

Rich summer flowering in pots and borders

Begonia is a versatile bloomer that, with its lush flowers and compact growth, is one of the most popular summer plants for pots, borders and hanging baskets. Available in numerous colours and shapes – single, double, large or small-flowered – begonia offers a long, exuberant flowering period from late spring until the first frost. It feels at home in semi-shaded spots and excels in ornamental value, even on shady terraces or north-facing balconies. Begonias are ideal for seasonal planting and attract both consumers and professional growers with their rich flowering, low maintenance and good performance in pot culture.

Begonia – a summer classic full of colour and volume

Begonia is a summer flowering tuber plant that is loved for its long flowering period, striking colours and flexibility in use. The flowers can be single or double, and vary from small, delicate flowers to large, rose-like shapes. Popular series such as Begonia ‘Fimbriata’ and ‘Picotee’ have been specially developed for rich flowering in pots and hanging baskets.

Begonia tubers are planted in the spring and flower from May until the first frost. They are particularly suitable for semi-shaded locations, but many varieties also perform well in full sun as long as the soil remains sufficiently moist. They require little maintenance, only regular watering and the reward follows with weeks of flowering.

Begonias are also excellent for commercial pot production and patio sales. Their uniform growth and flowering make them a permanent fixture in the summer range.

Application:

  • Pots, containers and hanging baskets

  • Balcony and patio planting

  • Flowering borders and shade beds

  • Seasonal sales in garden centres and markets
