From the Heart of Central Asia: Bridging Science and Tradition
From the Heart of Central Asia: Bridging Science and Tradition
At Holland Bulb Market, we are incredibly proud to have returned to the Jambyl region for the second time to participate in a mission that strengthens the historical and scientific ties between the Netherlands and Kazakhstan. Our journey with this region began in 2025 during a scientific conference focused on the protection of wild tulips, and returning this year to see our collaboration grow feels like a significant milestone for our company.
It was a profound honor for our representatives to stand alongside the Akim of the Jambyl region, Yerbol Karashukeyev, during the opening ceremony of the International Festival „Қызғалдақ mұpa” (Heritage of the Tulip). As the former Minister of Agriculture, his presence and support highlight the vital importance of the ecological and agricultural bonds that connect our two nations. To mark this symbolic partnership and celebrate our shared horticultural heritage, Holland Bulb Market officially presented a certificate for 40,000 tulip bulbs to the local administration as a gift of international friendship.
Beyond the formal festivities, our team ventured into the Karatau mountains to observe the breathtaking Tulipa greigii in its natural habitat. By collecting samples for laboratory research, we aim to unlock scientific insights that are essential for the future of sustainable breeding. As Kazakhstan is the ancestral home of the tulip, studying these wild ancestors allows us to develop more resilient and natural varieties for the global market while actively supporting the preservation of biodiversity.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Akimat of the Jambyl region for their exceptional hospitality and for hosting an event that so perfectly balances cultural pride with ecological responsibility. Holland Bulb Market remains committed to building bridges between the birthplace of the tulip and the world’s floral hub, and we look forward to a future of continued growth and discovery together.
